FAAN Releases Covid-19 Safety Rules

FAAN (Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria) has released guidelines and safety rules accompanying the re-opening of airports. See the guidelines listed below:

  • All passengers must arrive at the airport with their facemasks.
  • They must also ensure a physical distance of at least one point five meters (1.5 m). Aviation Medical / Port Health staff would screen each passenger and ensure the use of facemasks. Those traveling with pets must have the necessary clearance from Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services.
  • Before entry into departure halls, all passenger luggage would be disinfected.
  • The passengers should wash their hands as much as possible.  Passengers would be supplied with hand sanitizers before entering, in waiting lounges and pre-boarding gates.
  • All shoes would be disinfected / sanitized by foot mats placed at all entrances to the terminal building, among others.
  • For arriving passengers, the following guidelines must be adhered to;
  • Passengers would experience physical distance when disembarking from the aircraft as they board the Co-Buses (Hand Sanitizer would be included in the buses).
  • In the baggage claim area, where hand sanitizer are also provided, physical distancing protocols should be observed; disinfected trolleys would be made available to passengers.
  • While undergoing customs inspection, all Covid-19 protocols must be followed; passengers will exit halls and head straight to the car park for pick-up.
  • If you need to talk to someone around you, please speak to a properly marked Aviation Security (AVSEC) officer, physical distances would be maintained while waiting to be screened by port health service staff, amongst others.
  • In addition to the above guidelines, passengers must respect social distancing and use floor markings in the security screening area. They must also comply with all other safety guidelines as laid down by Aviation Security (AVSEC) officials.
