Healthy Meals For Your Next Camping Trip

Camping is a wonderful family activity.  There’s nothing better than being surrounded by nature.  No TV.  No computer.  You don’t have to worry about the kids running around.  They are free to be wild and free to get dirty.

There are a ton of things to do to prepare for a family camping trip.  The last thing you want to do is arrive at your campsite and realize you forget something important, like enough food, or enough water.  You’ll want to plan out each meal ahead of time so that you have enough food for everyone during the trip, especially if you are not close to any markets.  It’s a good idea to pack lots of healthy foods to keep your family nourished and energized.

Dinner Menu

Organic blue and yellow corn chips with chipotle salsa
Cucumber sticks, baby carrots, and baby tomatoes
Brown rice pasta with marinara sauce
Jovial fig-filled cookies
Water for the kids
Trader Jose Light beverages for the adults

You can snack on chips and salsa while setting up camp.

And some fruits and vegetables.

Eat some brown rice pasta with marinara sauce.  We made this at home before leaving on our camping trip so there was no cooking involved.

Cookies for dessert.  Of course we roasted marshmallows later.  What’s camping without roasting marshmallows?

These gluten-free fig-filled cookies were complements of Jovial Foods.  Between my husband, myself, and three boys we went through the entire box :-0  They are delicious and a definite try for anyone sensitive or intolerant to gluten.

Healthy dinner tips:

  • Plan each meal for each day ahead of time so that you’ll have enough food
  • Cook and freeze meals before the camping trip so that all you need to do is heat them up at the campground
  • Bring enough water
  • Wash and cut-up fruits and vegetables ahead of time
