SHOP THE VINTAGE STORES ON 19TH STREET

For antique clothes, trendy furniture and rare collectibles, 19th Street is the place to go. This place has many eclectic stores, ranging from evening apparel to casual clothes, watches, boots, kitchen accessories and all sorts of exclusive pieces. This is still a great place to purchase gifts. Not all merchandise is vintage; there are sites where new items are sold or a combination of old and modern. And if you don’t want to buy anything, the entire place provides a special retail experience.

NASA’S SPACE STATION

NASA ‘s Johnson Space Station, a must-see attraction in Houston. It was here the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing was celebrated.

There is a massive complex where you can walk around the independence space shuttle and the large aircraft on which it is installed. In the middle, you can walk through a re-creation of the first space station in America which is called Skylab, and grab a moon-rock. This is also the place to hear about the next NASA missions, including the trip to Mars. If you’re here at noon on a Friday, you might also meet an astronaut!

You will take an open-air tram tour to Johnson Space Center from the visitor center to see where astronauts prepare for space missions. This tour also takes you to Rocket Park to see rockets on display.

To witness something truly unique, sign up for a Level 9 tour and take a look behind the scenes at Johnson Space Center. On daily visits, you can see the Buoyancy Center, ISS Mission Control, and test laboratories along with other places off limits, and maybe even meet an astronaut. This is a one-of-a-kind experience and for this special four-to-five-hour VIP tour.

VISIT THE HOUSTON ZOO

Attractions in Hermann Park include Houston Natural Science Center, Miller Outdoor Theater, Japanese Greenhouse, and McGovern Centennial Greenhouse. In addition, you can have fun in a paddleboat ride on McGovern Bay, or a stroll along the park’s trails.

The Houston Zoo in Hermann Park is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions and has over 6,000 wild and domestic species, plus an educational centre and children’s zoo. Many of the highlights include feeding the giraffes, observing aquatic animals in the aquarium, and seeing sea lions.

DISCOVER HOUSTON’S STREET ART

Houston’s street art or what many people know as graffiti,  has fantastic works of art from the greatest names in street art, like COPE2 and Houston’s own Gonzo247 in the USA and around the world. These colorful murals adorn the walls of buildings in different locations around the city and are worth a visit to take a selfie with the graffiti in the background.

ATTEND THE HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is Houston’s largest annual festival which is a fun-filled 19-day festival that takes the whole community out in February or March. If you’re going to be here this holiday, its worth your time.

If this is your first time here, the variety of things you have to do will happily impress you. Carnival, sports, food and entertainment are all on the premises to keep you occupied for a long time. The cowboy shows across various locations of the rodeo games, where you would need tickets to attend. In addition, many of the biggest names in music play on stage throughout the evening.

If you have only one day to attend this wonderful festival, spend a morning or afternoon walking the grounds and enjoying the carnival, see some of the finest farm animals on display at the Livestock Festival, then take a rodeo event or two to see the cowboys in action, and spend the evening at a market.

DAY TRIP TO GALVESTON

If you’re looking for a fast city vacation, drive out to Galveston to soak up the heat, walk around the old city center, and dine at a seaside diner. Galveston ‘s gorgeous beaches is less than an hour away from Houston. There are miles of endless sand and warm, turquoise water which extends through the bay.

Moody Gardens is great if you’re visiting with your family.  Other sights to explore include Ocean Star Offshore Oil Rig and Aquarium, Texas Seaport Aquarium, and Strand Historic District.  You can also take a guided tour of the island with a double-decker tour bus in a 90-minute ride to and from Galveston.
