Three (3) Things To Do This Long Weekend

It’s another long weekend/holiday and all about Eid al Adah.

Also called the “Sacrifice Feast” or “Bakr-Eid”, Eid al Adah is a Muslim holiday celebrated every year, all over the world. It is traditionally celebrated for four days and in countries such as Nigeria, two days or even more are usually set aside for this celebration.

This leaves many Christians with the question: what do I do during this ‘holiday’? Quite a number of Muslims only celebrate on one of the days, leaving them to also wonder what to do on the other day(s).

If you fall under any of these categories or you are just in search for tips on things to do this/any long weekend, don’t stress it, as we’ve got you covered with these tips:

Spend Time with Family

Happy family standing on the beach at the sunset time. They keep the letters forming the word " family". Concept of friendly family.

It’s not every month of the year you get two whole days off work/school. The best way to savour the moment is to relax at home with your family members and/or loved ones. Whether you are a Christian, Muslim or Atheist, it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on what’s going on with your relatives. We all know regular weekends are never enough . Don’t worry about your friends, we have them covered in the next tip …

Take a Short Trip

During the holidays, the roads are usually less-congested. This might be the time for you to take the cue and go on that drive to a nearby state with friends (or alone if you prefer to go solo). It doesn’t matter where you are reading this from, as we have a plethora of hotels just for you. All you have to do it make your pick!

Tip –  If you can’t afford a trip now, go with the previous tip and the next one then spend some time planning your next trip.

Visit Your Muslim Friends

This should have been the first tip but we saved the best for the last.

One of the best ways to enjoy this long Muslim holiday is to pay a visit to your Muslim friends to celebrate with them, as they would appreciate the gesture. If it’s not a Muslim holiday while you are reading this, then pay your old friends a visit.

PS- Don’t go with plates and bowls making it seem like you only came for the food and ‘sallah meat’, or did you? 😉
