Wakanow welcomes Tokunbo Adetona on board as the senior vice president, product and innovation. A chartered accountant with over 18 years of work experience, his passion for tech dates back to his childhood. As a child, he would mess around with the family computer building simple programs to help perform calculations. His passion to innovate has been one of the major factors in guiding his career path. He has been committed to learning from other bright minds in different industries.
Tokunbo broadened his expertise in finance and as a tech entrepreneur whilst building the popular Nairabox and Tremendoc brands. He currently sits on the board of both companies, having served in Deloitte as an auditor from 2005-2010 and as a risk manager at Afribank for a year after that. He started his tech entrepreneurial journey in 2012 creating solutions to help banks interact with customers more efficiently.
Tokunbo describes this as “an exciting opportunity to help him drive innovation at scale in an already successful company. I look forward to building the future of travel with the team.”
A native of Ijebu-Ode, and a proud son of its royal heritage. Tokunbo was born in Dublin, Ireland on the 3rd of November 1982 and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a graduate of the University of Kent at Canterbury and also an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. An avid football player and Arsenal fan, Tokunbo’s other interests include watching movies, cooking and listening to music.
