Meet the Wakanow Team that Beat Emirates Airlines, Payporte, Others
When Wakanow set out to achieve its big ambitions for 2017, excelling in team sports was not on the list. But, like a bolt out of the blue, the trophies have been pouring in droves.
Only last week, the Wakanow team, led by Coach Emmanuel Okodua, dazzled yet again in a crunch tie that saw them defeat a hapless Emirates Airlines side.
Two lone strikes by Bolaji Ogundipe, Tolu Aderoyin and an emphatic brace by Jephter Lawrence were enough to crush the Emirates team and seal the victory for Wakanow.
The match was organized by Emirates Airlines as part of efforts to recognize the Nigeria’s largest travel company as a leading partner for the outgoing year.
Earlier in the quarter, Wakanow stole the show during the annual Game On tournament organized by ALAT. After condemning the Paystack team to an 11-0 defeat, Wakanow went ahead to beat co-finalists Payporte to bring home the trophy.
Wakanow’s Tunde Yusuf also emerged the highest goal-scorer in the entire competition. His second-half strike in the final minutes of the game put the Payporte team to the sword and sealed a historic win for the African travel giant.

Commending the team on their recent win, Executive Director, Mrs. Toyin Odutayo, said the entire organisation is proud of the achievements of the team.
“It’s exciting to see the exploits of this team, especially within the last two months. It is a testament to our drive for excellence, and we are ready to support the team to reach for the stars. It’s also one of the ways we encourage teamwork, fair-play and the amazing benefits of an active life. We want to compete in bigger competitions in the coming year”.
